On June 30, 2022, 31-year-old Phillip Wallace was found fatally shot inside a 2008 Acura RDX in the parking lot of Pimlico Elementary School in the 4800 block of Pimlico Road.

Court reporting later described a camera trail that began at Big Bro Mini Mart, followed Wallace, Aamir Benton, and James Jenkins III to the school, and continued after the gunfire.

Exactly 90 days later, on September 28, 2022, 23-year-old Eligah Hooks was shot on South Broadway. A woman wounded in the same incident survived. The two shootings happened at different locations, but they eventually entered the same legal story.

Prosecutors did not rely on a single camera. Court reporting said footage followed Wallace, Benton, and Jenkins from the mini mart into the Acura and toward the school parking lot.
