TENNESSEE — More than two decades after a man was found murdered in Dyersburg, authorities say the cold case has finally been cracked, leading to two murder arrests.
Investigators announced that two suspects have now been charged in connection with the killing of 35-year-old Timothy “Timmy” White, whose death remained unsolved for years as his family searched for answers.
According to authorities, White disappeared in 2004 before his body was later discovered in a rural area near Dyersburg. Detectives at the time believed foul play was involved, but the investigation eventually went cold despite years of leads and interviews.
Now, after reopening the case and reviewing old evidence alongside newer investigative techniques, officials say they were able to identify two suspects allegedly tied to the killing.
Authorities charged 49-year-old Anthony Dewayne Ward and 45-year-old Kimberly Dianne Ward with first-degree murder in the case. Investigators believe the suspects knew White before his death, though officials have not publicly detailed what may have motivated the killing. (wreg.com)
Law enforcement said the arrests came after investigators spent years re-examining witness statements, evidence, and information that had either been overlooked or unavailable during the original investigation.
Family members of the victim reportedly expressed relief after learning arrests had finally been made in the case after more than 20 years of uncertainty.
Authorities say the investigation remains active as prosecutors prepare for court proceedings and continue piecing together exactly what happened in the days leading up to White’s death.
