BALTIMORE, MARYLAND — Baltimore police say officers have now recovered more than 800 firearms from city streets since the start of 2026, highlighting what officials describe as an ongoing effort to target violent crime, illegal gun possession, and drug activity across the city.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, the latest milestone comes after months of enforcement operations that have resulted in hundreds of arrests and the seizure of large quantities of firearms, narcotics, cash, and other evidence connected to criminal investigations. Police released images showing some of the weapons and drugs recovered during recent operations as officers continue focusing on areas impacted by violent crime.
The department had reported recovering more than 730 firearms earlier in May. Within days, that number climbed past 800, demonstrating the pace at which officers are continuing to take weapons off the streets.
Baltimore police officials say firearm recoveries remain one of their top priorities as investigators work to reduce shootings and gun-related violence. In recent years, authorities have increasingly focused on illegally modified firearms, including handguns equipped with so-called Glock switches that can convert semi-automatic pistols into fully automatic weapons. Police have identified those weapons as a significant threat because of their ability to fire large numbers of rounds in seconds.
The firearm seizures are occurring alongside broader investigations targeting drug trafficking organizations and violent offenders operating throughout Baltimore. Federal and local authorities have recently announced multiple cases involving alleged drug trafficking networks, firearms violations, and organized criminal activity in various neighborhoods across the city.
Officials say the effort is ongoing and are encouraging residents to continue reporting illegal activity. Anyone with information about crimes in Baltimore can contact 911 or provide anonymous tips through Metro Crime Stoppers.
