Cumberland County Halloween shooting: Suspect arrested 9 months later, charged with murder of man

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Nearly nine months after a fatal Halloween shooting, Tresean Green has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 22-year-old Damonte Larsen, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Green, also 22, was taken into custody Friday by sheriff’s deputies working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities say a tip led them to his location.

The deadly shooting took place on October 31, 2024, on Atomic Drive near North Betty Street in Spring Lake. Responding officers found Larsen suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Green is currently being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center. He’s expected to appear in court for the first time on Monday.

No details have been released yet on a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing.
