BRYAN, TEXAS — Bryan Man Arrested for Stabbing Death of Mother
Trevor Norman, 30, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his mother to death early Thursday morning. A bond of $500,000 has been set for Norman, according to online jail records.
Authorities responded to a call at 1:30 a.m. from a woman who reported that Norman was holding a knife to his mother’s neck at their home on the 3900 block of Olive Street. Upon arrival, police detained Norman immediately in the driveway, and they found Sylvia Harris, the victim, inside the house with multiple stab wounds.
Harris was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
An arrest affidavit reveals that Norman admitted to killing his mother but did not provide a motive. Family members reported that Norman had lived with his mother and had a history of mental health issues. In 2021, he was arrested for assaulting a gas station employee in Bryan, where he also poured lighter fluid on the worker and inside the store. He was sentenced to one year in jail but was released in April 2024 after serving time.
Sylvia Harris was employed by the Brazos County Tax Office, and sources confirmed that the office was closed on Thursday and Friday to allow employees to mourn. The office will reopen on Monday, April 28.
The family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to support Harris’ teenage daughter during this tragic time.
