Teen Killed in Brighton Park as Police Scanner Audio and Scene Footage Surface

A late night shooting in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood has left a 17 year old dead, adding another young life to the city’s ongoing violence. Officials say the victim, identified as Autumn L. Martinez, was shot early Saturday morning on the Southwest Side.

According to Chicago police, officers were called to the 2400 block of West 48th Street at about 1:00 a.m. Investigators said the teen was outside walking when a red sedan drove past and someone inside opened fire. Multiple shots were fired, striking Martinez in the body before the vehicle sped away.

Paramedics treated the teen at the scene before rushing him to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Despite those efforts, he later died from his injuries.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as 17 year old Autumn L. Martinez. As of now, police have not released details about a possible suspect or what may have led up to the shooting.
