Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help after releasing surveillance video of a man wanted in connection with a deadly double murder in North Philadelphia.
The shooting happened just after two o’clock in the morning on May 8 in the 2500 block of West Berks Street. Investigators said three men were shot during the attack. Two of them, 31-year-old Tamir Hill and 26-year-old Quamire Willoughby, later died from their injuries. A third 26-year-old man survived after being shot in the chest.
According to police, the newly released surveillance video shows the suspected gunman walking for nearly three miles before the shooting. Investigators said he traveled from the area of 15th and Butler Streets to the location where the attack happened.
Police described the suspect as a Black man believed to be in his mid-twenties to early thirties. He is estimated to be between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a medium build, facial hair, and a receding hairline. At the time, investigators said he was wearing dark clothing, including a Nike hooded sweatshirt and black-and-gray athletic shoes.
After the gunfire, detectives believe the suspect fled on foot eastbound along Susquehanna Avenue from the area of 11th Street.
The City of Philadelphia is offering a 20,000-dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Police are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or knows anything about the shooting to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
