Woman Accused of Killing Man After Date Went Wrong When He Realized He Was Being Catfished

ATLANTA — A Georgia woman is accused of killing a man after police say he tried to end their date when he realized he had allegedly been catfished.

Authorities say 24-year-old Jada Green is charged with murder in connection with the death of 34-year-old Michael Thompson, whose body was discovered outside an apartment complex in metro Atlanta.

According to investigators, Thompson had been communicating online with someone he believed was a woman he was interested in dating. Police say the two agreed to meet in person, but things quickly went wrong after Thompson allegedly realized the person he met did not match the photos and identity he had been shown online.

Investigators believe Thompson attempted to leave the date after confronting Green about being deceived. An argument reportedly broke out, escalating into violence.

Police say Thompson was later found suffering from fatal injuries outside the apartment complex. Despite emergency efforts, he died at the scene.

Detectives launched an investigation using surveillance footage, witness statements, and phone records before identifying Green as the suspect. Authorities later arrested her and charged her with murder.

Investigators have not yet released all details surrounding how Thompson was killed, but police say the encounter turned deadly after he attempted to end the date and leave.

The case has sparked widespread reaction online because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the alleged catfishing scheme and the deadly violence that followed.

Green remains in custody as the investigation continues.
