LARGO, FL — Woman Arrested After Stabbing Smoke Shop Employee

A 22-year-old woman, Yesenia Sofia Gonzalez-Aleaga, was arrested Monday afternoon after stabbing an employee at a smoke shop located at 14111 Belcher Road, according to the Largo Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene just before noon and found a good Samaritan holding Gonzalez-Aleaga down. Police said the man was able to subdue the suspect before law enforcement arrived. After her arrest, officers provided medical assistance to the victim until paramedics arrived and took him to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Surveillance footage from the store showed Gonzalez-Aleaga entering and asking the victim for a product on a lower shelf. As the victim bent down to retrieve the item, Gonzalez-Aleaga allegedly pulled a knife from her purse and stabbed him multiple times. Despite the attack, the victim is in stable condition and is expected to recover fully.

Detectives are still investigating the motive for the stabbing, as Gonzalez-Aleaga and the victim did not know each other. She faces first-degree attempted murder charges.
