Baltimore Man Accused of Shooting Victim Who Then Rode Bus Across Town for Help

BALTIMORE — A Baltimore man has been arrested after police say he shot another man in East Baltimore late last weekend.

Authorities identified the suspect as 27-year-old Anthony Shearin. He is accused of shooting a 28-year-old man on April 19 in the 1600 block of East Eager Street.

Police said officers responded to that block around 11:52 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found evidence of a shooting, but no victim at the scene.

Less than an hour later, around 12:48 a.m. on April 20, officers found a 28-year-old man in the 6800 block of Belair Road suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators later determined the man had been shot on East Eager Street, then boarded a bus and traveled to Belair Road. Once he was on the bus, the driver contacted police.

Shearin was arrested the next day, on April 21, and taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility.

He is now charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault as the case moves forward.
