FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Man Sentenced to Life for Execution-Style Killing Outside McDonald’s

A Fayetteville man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of capital murder in the 2022 shooting death of 28-year-old Edwin Swan near a McDonald’s on College Avenue, officials announced Monday.

Keyvon Jarrett, 24, was found guilty by a jury on July 29, according to Washington County Prosecutor Brandon Carter. Authorities say Jarrett spotted Swan at the McDonald’s, parked nearby, then returned on foot and shot Swan twice as he exited the restaurant. The entire incident was caught on surveillance footage.

Jarrett fled the scene in his vehicle, and officers tried to save Swan’s life until EMS arrived. Swan was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Just three days later, Jarrett reportedly attempted to rob a man at gunpoint while the man was fueling an RV at a truck stop in Rudy. The intended victim pulled a firearm in self-defense, prompting Jarrett to open fire before fleeing. Surveillance footage from that scene helped Fayetteville police identify and link Jarrett to Swan’s murder.

Jarrett later surrendered to police in Conway and was transferred to Washington County Jail to face charges.

Prosecutor Carter called the killing an “execution-style murder” committed in a public space surrounded by witnesses and cameras. He praised the work of the Fayetteville Police Department and Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Dylan Weisenfels and Courtney Cassidy for securing justice in the case.
