Pregnant Woman Accused of Killing 1-Year-Old Son Captured in New York

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A pregnant woman accused of killing her 1-year-old son in Rockdale County, Georgia, has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Rochester, New York.

Gloria Wright, 23, was taken into custody on Saturday after being on the run for nearly two weeks.

Rockdale County deputies responded to a home on Hamlet Walk on January 8, where they found the child unresponsive. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the boy was pronounced dead. Investigators later ruled his death a homicide.

Before her capture, Rockdale County Sheriff’s investigator Grote Levett emphasized the urgency of locating Wright. “We have a small child who has lost their life at the hands of their mother. She is currently carrying another child, and we need to get her into custody for her safety and the safety of that child,” Levett stated.

Wright was initially interviewed by authorities on the day of the incident but evaded law enforcement until her arrest. Details about her extradition to Rockdale County have not yet been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
