South Carolina Man Charged in Death of 4-Year-Old Girl with Special Needs


Simpsonville, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 4-year-old girl with special needs who was in his care.


According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler David Ternberg, 28, is accused of killing Addison Carr, the daughter of his girlfriend, on Dec. 22. The arrest report states that the child suffered “non-accidental trauma” while under Ternberg’s supervision.


On Jan. 2, Ternberg was taken into custody and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing.


If convicted of homicide by child abuse, Ternberg faces a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison.
