BALTIMORE, MARYLAND — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Tyonna Pierce, a case that devastated a Baltimore family and community earlier this year.
According to Baltimore Police, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the teenage suspect on May 20. Investigators say the suspect later turned himself in at Juvenile Bookings on May 23 without incident. He is now facing a first-degree murder charge and remains in custody as the case moves through the juvenile justice system.
The homicide occurred during the early morning hours of February 15, 2026. Police were called to a residence in the 2100 block of Druid Hill Avenue in West Baltimore at approximately 2:08 a.m. after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Tyonna Pierce suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a local hospital but later died from her injuries.
At the time of her death, Tyonna was a first-year student at Digital Harbor High School. Family members described her as a kind and caring teenager whose loss left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
In the days following the shooting, relatives gathered for a memorial and publicly pleaded for answers. Her aunt, Nikki, described Tyonna as a quiet but generous young girl who loved spending time with friends and family. Family members said they had last seen her alive around 11 p.m. on the night before the shooting.
At the time of the investigation, police had not released a motive and no arrests had been announced. Detectives continued working the case over the following months before ultimately identifying the suspect and securing a warrant.
The arrest marks a major development in the investigation nearly four months after Tyonna’s death. Authorities have not publicly released additional details about what led to the shooting, and the case remains under investigation.
