MINNESOTA — A Minnesota man is now facing murder charges after authorities say he killed his estranged partner and her young son inside their home in a devastating double shooting.

Investigators say 53-year-old Irving Marsaw is accused of fatally shooting 44-year-old Jennifer Marsaw and her 5-year-old son, Marzai Andrew Dawson, during the early morning hours of March 18 in the town of Lexington.

Police were called to the home just before 1 a.m. after a child inside the residence dialed 911, reporting that their mother and brother had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Jennifer with a gunshot wound to the chest. Her young son had also been shot and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Authorities say the suspect and the victim were estranged partners, and court records indicate there had been prior threats and alleged violence in their relationship leading up to the shooting.

Marsaw has now been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and is expected to face a judge as the case moves forward.

The tragedy has left the community shaken, as investigators continue to piece together what led up to the deadly attack inside the home.
